This webinar focuses on the spectrum of adverse impacts of sexual trauma in childhood and incorporates play therapy as a developmentally appropriate treatment modality for this presenting problem.  Participants will learn important considerations for treating children who have experienced sexual trauma, will develop a case conceptualization with a play therapy lens, and will be introduced prescriptive, trauma-informed play therapy frameworks that utilize play therapy therapeutic principles and interventions.

Description

Objectives:

– Participants will be able to describe at least three adverse impacts of sexual trauma in childhood and will be able to discuss how these impacts manifest as unique trauma symptoms that can be identified in play therapy assessment and session

– Participants will be able to identify at least three therapeutic qualities of trauma-informed play therapy and will be able to describe how this approach can be helpful for children who have experienced sexual trauma

– Participants will be able to explain and apply at least three play therapy interventions designed for children recovering from sexual trauma
