Helping Children With Social Skills Deficits

This webinar will examine social skills deficits, theoretical understandings of socialization, and different models of play therapy intervention.  Etiology of social skills deficits will be examined through the lense of play therapy theories.  The webinar will introduce the modalities of play therapy that are effective in treating social skills deficits, including Jungian; Interpretive play therapy; concrete social skills training curricula including Second Step, Social Thinking by Marcia Garcia Winner, and Social skills competencies by Gresham;  Use of countertransference, and bibliotherapy.

Understand social skills deficits through the lense of Play Therapy and early childhood development theory.
Understand multiple Play Therapy techniques that involve playing with child to help child obtain social skills competency.
Understand multiple Play Therapy techniques that are directive and use specific learning modules to help child obtain social skills competency
