Enuresis/Encopresis in Play Therapy

Previously Recorded (Non-Contact) 1 CEU.

Presenter: Allan M. Gonsher, LIMHP, LCSW, RPT-S.

The topic of enuresis/encopresis is sometimes successfully addressed from a Cognitive Behavioral perspective. Unfortunately, there are cases where CBT is ineffective. Conceptualization of these presenting problems need to take place. Also, the relationship between family and play therapy will be discussed. Analysis of play therapy in the play room will be explored. Finally, applying the understanding of a family and child and his/her behavior to a solution focused conclusion will be presented.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to analyze and understand what enuresis/encopresis problems mean.
  • Participants will apply family/child theoretical constructs (theory) and play therapy to enuresis and/encopresis.
  • Participants only after analyzing a case, will learn what to “do” in play therapy to help a child/family address the problem.
